Do I need to have Receipts?
Question
Do you have to have receipts in order to claim property related expenditures?
What happens if you do not have a receipt or have lost them? Arthur Says If you know in your heart that you did spend the money on an allowable expense, then you can claim it. However if the Revenue question you about it, and you cannot prove it, then you must be prepared for the Revenue to say to you: 'We don't believe you, and therefore we are not accepting what you say'. Therefore, although you are allowed to claim it, because you know it is true, you must be prepared to pay the tax on it if questioned about it and cannot prove it.
